The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season introduces a large cast of personalities living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people make a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
