PSG has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 different occasions.
The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.
The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.
However, Marseille struck two times late to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.
In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.
From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.
The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
