Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
